Lingkaran adalah himpunan titik-titik pada bidang datar yang berjarak sama terhadap satu titik tetap. Titik tetap itu disebut pusat lingkaran dan jarak tetap disebut jari-jari lingkaran.
Persamaan Lingkaran
a. Persamaan Lingkaran Dengan Pusat O(0,0)
Jika titik A(xA,yA) terletak pada lingkaran yang berpusat di O, maka berlaku OA= jari-jari lingkaran. Dengan menggunakan rumus jarak titik O(0,0) ke titik A(xA,yA)
diperoleh:
OA= r√(XA - 0)2 + (YA – 0 )2 = r2
xA2 + yA2 = r2
maka, persamaan lingkaran dengan pusat O(0,0) dan jari-jari r adalah :
X2 + Y2 = r2
